Boards are covered in black, textured paper. Plain cover. Paneled spine, divided by gilt lining. Black panel label with gilt, stamped lettering. Printed on laid paper. Dual columned. Unpaginated, yet columns are continuously numbered, through all 40 issues, respectively, beginning again at column 1 for the second year, 1837. 644 columns for volumes 1-40, 1836. Title page for 1837 notes 40 volumes, but this second half actually contains 80 volumes from January to December with 638 numbered columns. Contains what appear to be advertisements and appendix information for both years. CONDITION: This edition is in overall "very good" condition, showing wear, (particularly around the edges, joints, head and foot of the spine), rubbing and small dents within the cover and spine. Flyleaf bears approx. 3" closed tear. Bookplate for Marietta College Library is affixed to the front pastedown. Flyleaf bears approx. 3" closed tear. Leaves bear a moderate wave and dampstain at the foot, yet text is dark, fully legible and uncompromised. Minor, occasional foxing throughout. Pages are largely without annotation, but do bear occasional marginalia written in pencil. A nice edition for the year of its publication.
