Annals of A Quiet Neighborhood (First American Edition and First Single Volume Edition.)
New York: George Routledge and Sons, [1871]. First American Edition. Hardcover. This book was first published in 1867 in three volumes. This copy matches the description in Mary Nance Jordan's George MacDonald: A Bibliographical Catalog and Record for the 1871 edition. Jordon's volume says the publisher is George Routledge (New York) and Alexander Strahan (London). Our copy exactly matches the rest of Jordan's description except ours has no Strahan device on the spine but does have it on the title page. No date on title page. This then, is the first American printing and the first single volume printing. All previous printings were in three volumes.
Green cloth boards with black ornamental blocking. The spine has text and ornamentation in gilt. 590 pp. Very Good at least with minor wear at extremities and a small white smudge on the right side of the front cover.
Shelley and Son Books specializes in C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien & the Inklings. Full refund if not satisfied. Very Good.
